Dear Friends,

 Happy Spring! We are gearing up for a very busy spring with activities, fitness classes, events, and more all designed to keep you busy and engaged. We want to see more smiling faces at all of our centers across Tuscarawas County.

I want to take the time to brag about our satellite centers, their managers and staff, as well as the programs and services they offer their communities. Each satellite is an established entity with a 501c3 nonprofit status. Each of them have their own board of directors and a manager paid through the Tuscarawas County Senior Center. The satellites are responsible for managing their own activity calendar and some have their own meal plans. Each satellite operates a little differently to properly serve their respective communities.

In September 2023, we opened the first senior center in the Village of Strasburg. The manager is Heather Blacka and she has created a warm and high energy center with a very active board of directors. They

are open Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 9am-1pm with various programs and fitness classes as well as lunch catered by the Tuscarawas County Senior Center. Call 330.878.4048 for membership                 information.

The Claymont Senior Center is located in Uhrichsville and under the management of Sharon Chambers who is in her 32^nd year at the center. Sharon and her assistant Heidi, facilitate transportation for those age 60 and over in the Twin City area as well as manage programs onsite. Lunches are catered by the Tuscarawas County Senior Center daily. They are open Monday-Friday from 8am-1pm. Call 740.922.0365 for membership information.

The Newcomerstown Senior Center is under the management of Christina Malachin. She has an onsite cook, Judi who is cooking up delicious meals for the seniors during hours of operation, Tuesday-Friday, 8am-1pm. The center is a wonderful place for Newcomerstown seniors to play cards, exercise, and be a part of a social group. Call 740.498.4523.

Garaway Senior Center is under the management of Beth Johnson and located in Sugarcreek. Beth has an

onsite cook, Vanessa, who is serving up amazing meals for seniors Monday-Thursday, no meals on Friday. The center is open for programs such as BINGO, exercise, and community presentations Monday-Friday, 8am-1pm. Garaway has a board of directors who oversee the fiscal operations of the center.

Westchester Senior Center is under the management of Fred Dickinson. He has an active board of         directors and a huge senior following for such a small center. Westchester is best known for their one time a month breakfast that is delicious and well attended. This center may be our smallest but it has the biggest heart. These folks travel all around visiting other centers, trying new restaurants and learning new ways to have fun. Another exciting addition to the Dover center is the Caregiver Support Group held the last Thursday of each month from 4:30p-6:00pm. This group is facilitated by Marley Miller, LSW and is open to all caregivers.  Additionally, the Chronic Disease Management Program is an 8 week program that is offered FREE to anyone over age 50. This program is also facilitated by Marley Miller, LSW, and incorporates many community partners who are experts in their field. Call 330.364.6611 to register.

Finally, I want to express our excitement as we move through 2024. The Tuscarawas County Senior Center has programs and services that truly meet the needs of our seniors. Our fitness classes are seeing an increase in participation as well as our dine in lunches. Prospect Perks Coffee & Café continues to serve a large number of folks daily who are enjoying breakfast, lunch, grab & go, and our homemade desserts and specialty coffees. The centers are here to serve our seniors in a variety of ways. Come and check us out!!
