CENTER CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES

WANTED: We are always looking for craft instructors. If you have a special craft or art talent such as painting, sewing, craft projects etc. please call the Activity Department so that we can set something up.

We are in need of:

* clean, new or used items for our mystery auction held each month

* scrapbook paper and paper remnants for upcoming craft projects

* jewelry making supplies as well, from glass beads and wire, to tools and findings.

Please contact Blair in the Activity Department. Your donations are always greatly appreciated.

 

Sign up for all classes at front desk. All classes must be paid for when you register for the class or program.

 

 

CRAFT CLASSES:

 

 

 

Homemade Bath Salts: Thursday, May 16, 12:30-1:30 p.m. Instructor Peggy Robb will show you how to make bath salts to give to a friend or family member as a gift. Cost: $5.00

 

Tin Can Luminary: Thursday, June 6, 12:30-1:30 p.m. Instructor Blair Everett will show you how to make a luminary for your outdoor table using tin cans. Cost: $3.00

 

Bow Making: Thursday, June 20, 12:30-1:30 p.m. Instructor Peggy Robb will show you how to make bows for all sorts of occasions! Cost: $5.00

 

 

 

Card Embroidery: Tuesdays at 12:30. Instructor, Linda Miller provides a sample of the card you will make each week. Cost: $3.00, which includes materials needed for your first card; additional packets are available at a cost of $3.00.

 

Writer’s Corner: Wednesdays, April 17, May 15 and June 19 at 10:00 a.m. Looking for writers of short stories, poetry etc. All are welcome! Facilitator is Dottie Huff. Cost: No charge.

 

 

 

Painting Class: Tuesday mornings from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Located in the craft room on the first floor of the Center. Learn to paint under the direction of Instructor, Faith Williams. Please bring your own paint brushes all other materials are furnished. Sign up at the front desk. Additional painting boards can be purchased following class at a minimal cost. Cost: $5.00

 

 

Quilter’s Classes: Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Quilter’s Needs List: Portable sewing machine, rotary cutter, cutting mat & 6-½ x12 ½ inch ruler. Quilting project cost is $3.00 per class, must be pre-registered prior to class dates.

 

 

Sewing & Quilting: Monday, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Join others in the sewing and quilting room during open times. Cost: $1.00

 

 

Bingo: Mondays 10:00 a.m. Each player brings in 2 clean, new prizes valued at a dollar apiece, the cover all is donated each month by Schoenbrunn Healthcare, Beacon Point, Country Club, Tridia Hospice, and Generations at Ten Lakes. Caller is Lonnie Fulp.

 

 

LCR: Every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Each player pays a $1 to play. We are playing with Bingo chips, but the winner will take home the pot! If you can roll the dice, you can play this game!

 

 

Bunco: Thursdays at 12:00. Cost is $1.00. (Payable day of game, prizes will be given.) If you can roll dice you can play Bunco, this is an old pub game that only requires dice.

 

 

Mystery Auction: Fridays, April 5, May 3 and June 7, 10:30 a.m. It’s the first Friday of the month and that can only mean one thing: it’s time for Mystery Auction! You never know what will be beneath the wrapping paper, but everything you win is sure to be a surprise.

 

 

Price is Right: Fridays, April 12, May 10 and June 14, 10:30 a.m. It’s just like on TV, only better! On the second Friday come and give us your best guess on different household products. The closest guess without going over will win the prize.

 

 

Mystery Game: Fridays, April 19, May 17 and June 21, 10:30 a.m. Who knows what game we will play on the fourth Friday of the month! Games could be anything from LCR to trivia, but no matter what, we can guarantee you will have fun!

 

 

LCR : Fridays, April 26, May 24, May 31 and June 28 at 10:30 a.m. Each player pays a $1 to play. We are playing with Bingo chips, but the winner will take home the pot! If you can roll the dice, you can play this game!

 

 

Mahjong: Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. Join us in the Myron Phillips Hall for Mahjong! We are looking for new members! Cost: No charge.

 

 

 

COMPUTER CLASSES:

APRIL

 

 

 

Digital Camera: April 1-5, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Have a digital camera and not sure how to use it? Can you download the pictures; crop; make changes; print in color, black/white, sepia, etc.? Well, that is what we will do in this class. We will use a free picture program to make all these changes and even add other clip art to your pictures for fun.  This class will use a free Photoshop program to enhance your pictures and, also, show you how to send them by email or save them for use later. Instructor: Marie Contini. Cost: $25.00

 


eBay, Paypal
, Amazon, Travel sites: April 1-5, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 a.m. Are you new to eBay, Paypal, Amazon or travel sites? We will explore the facets of Ebay, how to review items, how to set up an account, how to bid, how to pay for your bids, and more. Paypal is a payment site to use with Ebay and other sites you order online from. Learn how to order online using secure payment sites, and more. Instructor: Marie Contini. Cost: $50.00

 


MAY

 


IPads, Kindles, IPhones, Ebooks, etc:
May 13-17, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Do you want to learn more about your new gadget? How about downloading a new app for you Kindle, IPad or other device; not sure how, or where to get them? Come take this class and you will be able to download books, apps, games, books, etc. And learn how to use them. Instructor: Marie Contini. Cost: $50.00

 

 

Hodge Podge: May 13-17, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. We can do whatever is needed by you in this class. Learn to download and us applications on Windows 8 or your cell phone, or if you have a computer (laptop or desktop) and not sure how to surf the net or work with programs, then you will want to be a part of this class. If you are looking to just learn more about Windows, Email, pictures, videos, music, or whatever has you stumped, then you need this class. Instructor: Marie Contini. Cost: $50.00

 

 

 

JUNE

 


NEW Windows 8:
June 3-7, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Did you get a new laptop or desktop computer? It probably came with the new Windows 8 operating system. Not sure what to do with the new version, well this is the class to take. Windows 8 has the capability of using touch screens instead of a mouse. If your new or older computer has Windows 7, you may need some help with this version also. Instructor: Marie Contini. Cost: $50.00

 

 

 


Advanced Computer
: June 3-7, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Need some help with surfing the web, working with a specific program, or other questions you may need answered. Then this class will help you get some answers. Bring in your questions and we will work them out together. This class is a meant to help you be more proficient on the computer. Instructor: Marie Contini. Cost: $50.00

 

 

 

Computer Help Group: Do you have questions about surfing the net, saving files, printing documents, connecting devices, using scanners, digital cameras, using certain programs or anything else pertaining to the computer? We have set aside time to meet with others who have the same or similar questions. A computer club is for those who would like to share, network with others their experiences on the computer. This is not a structured class but a forum for questions and answers. The group meets on the second Monday of every month at 12:30 p.m. in the computer lab.
